I’m currently reading Thomas Mann’s Joseph in Egypt (I was silly and got the second volume from the library on accident)–a nice way, I think, to learn about Jewish history without actually having to read the Bible (or Wikipedia).
Anyway, I noticed that the book seemed very old, but given that it’s in perfect condition, I doubted that it actually was. Upon checking the copyright page, however, I found that it was actually printed in 1938. WOW.
It’s pretty cool that the book I’m holding in my hands was already a few years old when the U.S. started fighting in World War II!!!
In fact, it’s probably almost as old as my grandparents, though I can’t figure out if it is or not because I hate math. O.o

I had to read Mann’s Doctor Faustus for a class this past quarter and found it absolutely impossible to read (as the professor had warned), so I didn’t even finish it, but I was intrigued by Mann’s writing style. I was very glad to discover that he’s written other books that are at least readable.

Why is it that every single person who follows me on Twitter is some kind of “internet marketer” or “social media specialist”? What the fuck does that even mean?

Sometimes it’s all I can do not to lose my faith in humanity. (And social networking.)

I took this photo a few weeks ago from my brother’s balcony in downtown Chicago (Streeterville, to be precise). Cities have always been magical to me, and it’s hard not to be inspired by a few like this.
[Sometimes I'm too lazy to write about my life, so I just find some lyrics that can do it for me. =)]
I’ve been stuck in this whirlwind
My life’s been spinning round my head
Long distance conversations
Make up for me not being there
And now I’m coming home
I’m coming home to you again
I hope you feel the same
Now I’m coming home
I’m coming home to you again
I hope things haven’t changed
Singin’
I’ve been locked inside this freight train
Unaware of the normal life I had
Frustration building a foundation
I wrote this song to let you know that I’ll be back
Screamin’
I hope you feel the same
I can’t stop, can’t stop thinking
About what you do when you’re alone
Let’s cut right to the chase girl
Take back the time, time that we’ve lost, time we’ve lost
This is a “creative paper” for my astronomy class.
I had to host it on Scribd so that the footnotes are all there, and of course, stupid WordPress won’t let me embed it here, so here’s a link.
The idea was to pick an article about recent astronomical research and write about it in a creative manner, and I chose an article about the possibility that the sun was once part of a star cluster. Yeah, just go with it.
